Mr. Moonyoung Yang is a partner patent attorney at LEE & MOCK IP, where he has been practicing since joining the firm in 2016 as a trainee following his qualification as a Korean Patent Attorney in 2015. He specializes in patent prosecution, prior-art search and analysis, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, infringement analysis, IP consulting, litigation, and dispute matters in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering, AI/software, semiconductors and displays, and healthcare/medical devices.

Beyond conventional patent prosecution and Office Action practice, Mr. Yang is deeply involved in his clients’ product development processes, with a strong focus on proactively managing IP risks. His core expertise includes conducting invalidity searches and FTO analyses, advising on design-around strategies, building patent portfolios, and leading barrier-patent projects aimed at securing technological white spaces ahead of competitors. He is particularly experienced in developing comprehensive IP strategies closely aligned with his clients’ business objectives and commercialization efforts.

In collaboration with a global e-cigarette company, Mr. Yang has been exclusively responsible since 2019 for managing competitor patent databases, FTO projects, and related patent filings for a specific product line. Through consistent adherence to deadlines and high-quality results, he has built strong and trusted relationships with client-side professionals. He has also contributed to improving his clients’ internal IP workflows by participating in the development of specification drafting and Office Action response guidelines.

Outside of his professional practice, Mr. Yang enjoys various sports activities, including basketball, fitness training, and cycling, which help him maintain energy and balance. He is also passionate about PlayStation gaming and collectible card hobbies, and believes that these diverse interests contribute to a broader perspective and a more creative approach in handling cutting-edge IP matters.
