At LEE & MOCK IP, Mr. Jinsu Ryu handled national phase entry and subsequent Office Action (OA) responses for foreign applicants during the early stages of his patent practice, and has thus accumulated extensive understanding and practical experience in patent matters across a broad range of electrical and electronic technology fields, including electronic devices, semiconductors, telecommunications, signal processing, information processing, computers, and software.
Currently, as a partner patent attorney at LEE & MOCK IP, Mr. Ryu primarily handles patent matters relating to video codec standards such as HEVC, VVC, and EVC, as well as AI, software, and signal processing technologies. His practice mainly focuses on major foreign jurisdictions, where he is broadly responsible for the overall patent prosecution process, including patent filings, OA responses, trials, and invalidity searches. In particular, based on his extensive experience in patent practice not only in IP5 countries but also in various foreign jurisdictions, he possesses strategic capabilities for responding in consideration of each country’s patent system and examination tendencies. In addition, he has expertise in establishing practical IP strategies through prior-art analysis and patent validity review by conducting patent investigations such as invalidity searches.
In particular, in the field of video codec standards, he is engaged in preparing claim charts for standard essential patents (SEPs), responding to patent pool evaluations, and building and managing related patent portfolios. Based on such experience, he contributes to strengthening clients’ intellectual property competitiveness and securing global patent rights by organically integrating deep technical understanding with patent prosecution strategies.
